UPCOMING FALL FESTIVALS
The spring festivals are over for the year, and we "coast" for the summer.
The first fall festival is Yom Teruah - the day of hearing the trumpet blown. Judah renamed this festival after their stay in Babylon. They call it Rosh Hashanah - the head of the year. It is considered their Civil New Year. While Al and I do not celebrate it as a new year, we do think it has considerable importance in the future return of Messiah (see First Corinthians 15:52). More on this festival as the time draws near to celebrate it on Tishri 1 (mid-October on this year's Gregorian calendar).
Ten days later is Yom Kippur - the Day of Atonement - the day we believe all will be judged.
Five days after that is the first day of Sukkot - the Feast of Tabernacles. It is the most joyous of all the feasts and is celebrated for eight days. It would be wonderful to celebrate it in the Land, and many do journey there to participate in a festival sponsored by the International Christian Embassy of Jerusalem. People from around the globe come during that week to show their support for the Jewish people. The Bible says in Zechariah 14:16-19 --
" And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
And it shall be, that whoso of the families of the earth goeth not up unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, upon them there shall be no rain.
And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, they shall have no overflow; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the nations that go not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations that go not up to keep the feast of tabernacles."
We are rehearsing this most joyous festival now, anticipating its fulfillment in the near future when Messiah steps His foot on this planet.
This year we will be hosting a Sukkot celebration/rehearsal at a lake near Seminole, Oklahoma. To get more information, click on the tab in the upper lefthand part of the homepage that says "Sukkot." More to come on the upcoming fall festivals.
